Very exciting and haunting. I came in not knowing ANYTHING about this book except it was historical fiction (got it recommended to cleanse my palatte from another historical fiction that just felt exploitative) so the fantasy/magic of it was such a welcome surprise!
The characters were great, could have used a little more time & characterizations with Chef and Sadie but I'm not complaining much. Story? Wild, interesting, captivating. The folktales come to life was so interesting, I want more!

HOLY FUCKING SHIT!!!

This book had me in a chokehold, I started this just to have something to listen to while I was doing stuff. Instead I ended up just sitting their, listening, being completely hooked by the narrator, the story and the whole atmosphere.

Throughout the whole story I was on the edge of my seat and could stop listening, cause I needed to know what was going to happen and how it would all end.

Even though the book is on the shorter side, so much was happening without feeling too fast paced. It still left moments to breathe. I also cared so much for these characters.

I can't wait to read more by the author.

This was interesting to say the least. I think this would be a good Ap Lit book because there’s definitely some deeper messages and allegories going on.
