Like a writer of romance novels, Coben has found a formula that he sticks with. Someone has disappeared in the past under mysterious and tragic circumstances. Said person reappears later in life, surviving family member is scarred and now scared and confused, death and tragedy ensues.
Well written so I keep reading them, hoping that he might get off the been-there-done-that train.
If you don't see reviews for his other books, from me, see above.

Really enjoyable. Lots of twists. Just when you think you saw the final reveal...

Dark & convoluted - but hard to put down. However, if this had been my first Coben book, it likely would have been my last. I just don't need that much gore.

My first Coben book and I don't think I'll return to this author. While the plot has many unpredictable twists, the bulk of the novel is hard to follow and plodding. The worst parts are the protagonist's musing on his "love of his life," a Mary Sue, absent from almost the entire book. I didn't choose a thriller to get a schmaltzy romance, based on nothing but unexplained affection.

After hearing so much about Harlen Coben, I wasn't really impressed. A page turner, but eh, who cares.

Got super behind on my reviews and now I'm kind of forgetting. But it was FINNNEE, I like Harlan Coben for the most part but this one wasn't quite as gripping. Felt more stretching the possibilities. Though he certainly has a way of twisting even when you think the twists are over. Hope that's not a spoiler. I don't think it's a must read, but if you love his other books you'll like it!
