i remember adoring binti when i read it years ago, but i really did not gel with the writing style in this short story. it felt very stilted and awkward. it was hard to visualise and i found the descriptions of the Uni City really confusing.

i do like the connections that binti made with her friends and i was interested by the mathematical mysticism. this story is pretty low stakes and left me with a warm feeling but i didn’t enjoy it as much as i thought i would.

Maybe this series works better as an audio series, but this 35 page short story took me days to read. I'll be DNFing the series, at least until I get access to the audiobooks.
