I loved this insight into Binti's and Okwu's experience in Oomza University after the events of the novella! Addressing Binti's horror and the conflicted emotions Okwu brings up is the main reason why the short story got 4 stars. Its comfort in shared experience even when it's painful.

Very good exploration of survivors guilt and the PTSD associated with being the only person to live through a massacre. It examines Binti's mind and reactions in a way that make her fear digestible for the reader, but being a short novella, it in no way could explore the full depth of what Binti was experiencing (through no fault of its own). I am looking forward to the rest of the series!

I didn't love this as much as the first installment in Binti, but I like that it introduced more characters and species. I think this really helped emphasize Binti's mental and emotional health, as well as her strengths and weaknesses.
