I absolutely loved the movie adaptation with Johnny Depp when I was younger, the colors, the absurdity, the total belief that all of that could be real. I wanted to revisit the story in its original format to explore more of Charlie and Willy Wonka, and I’m so glad I did. The lesson I took from it still holds up: that kindness is the most powerful resource you have, and it will take you further than anyone who tries to hold you down.
