This was a fun read-aloud, and it prompted lots of questions about why the kids weren’t listening very well. I appreciated that it mentions all of the kids leaving the factory at the end because otherwise it would have been quite morbid!
Cute throwback to childhood. I liked this book (and the original movie, none of that remake crap!) when I was a kid so it was fun to listen to it again.

I loved this classic even more the second time around as I read it with my 8 year old daughter. It was so much fun to experience the story through her eyes! Terrific lessons for children (don't be greedy/gluttonous/naughty/TV-obsessed)! Original characters, amazing plot twists, rich language/vocabulary. Also, I appreciated the fact that Charlie Bucket and his family's situation (desperately poor and hungry) is not sugar-coated.
If you haven't read it in a while or are thinking of reading it with you children --go for it! It is simply wonderful!

Classic for a reason and found myself singing along to myself during the songs
I've never read this before and it was a treat to read it to my daughter for the first time. Her joy and enthusiasm for the story definitely made me enjoy it more. What a magical story!
The only thing I didn't enjoy, was trying to come up with enough distinct voices that I could remember for the variety of children and adults in this book!
