Such a fun book, honestly. Parents of children with zero filters should maybe be mindful of the fact that the writer addresses a few kids as fat, bratty, and other unpleasant adjectives. (It's no less than the characters deserve, but still, I know language in a story is something a lot of parents rightly try to be aware of.) Nonetheless, Roald Dahl is witty, clever, and just an excellent storyteller.

Candy is dangerous
If you like fiction, humor and candy, this will be a decent read for you. I thought it was good read with lots of puns and word play.

Love Road Dahl. As an adult though, more of the adults get on my nerves, including Grandpa Joe (conveniently bedridden until he feels like it, and then he's fine) and Willy Wonka himself (rude, obnoxious, and perfectly okay with endangering children for kicks). Still, it was fun to read with my 4-year-old, whose favorite book this now is.
