This one…boy oh boy.
Let’s just say CAUTION WILL ROBINSON, if you struggle with mental health such as cutting or substance abuse.

It’s been on my shelf for a while and I’m trying to play the “clear my shelf” game with my audiobook reads. I struggle with this being a young adult read. This book one of my 7th graders last year recommended to me and it’s why I put it on my list. Now I’m wondering, was there some deeper meaning as to why…because now knowing the content, it’s MUCH too deep, in my opinion, for middle schoolers to be reading. This YA book, due to the topics it discusses should be more high school.

charlie’s story is heavy, i like the development of how we come to learn her past. As the book progresses we see that healing is not linear. charlie’s relationships with all of the other characters are complex and have so many layers to them. i couldnt help but keep turning the pages and reading charlie’s story more and more. i liked the ending, to me it felt like all of the characters were at peace, or at least getting there.

This book was fucking phenomenal. My ears got so teary several times reading it. I loved every piece of it. The plot is engaging. The prose is very personal, and hits really close to home. This book was phenomenal. Amazing. Just read it.
