Maybe a wrong move to read this on audio. Narrator's male voices sounded like redneck hillbilly inbread losers and any female voice over 40 sounded like old crown granny in the dark woods, so not great.
Fmc lusted over MAD Rogen bc he listened, the bar is that low. Number of times MAD Rogen is menson , hundreds. About 80 % she drops the MAD occasanly, but it's still a LOT.
There's also a lot of MALE smirks and MALE eyes and MALE this and that. Like ok, we understand he is MALE. And MAD!
Granny was funny and the story was interesting, maybe better if u read it instead.

Gotta say I love other Illona Andrews books (Kate Daniels and The Innkeeper Chronicles are amazing!), but this series just fell flat for me by comparison. The story and setting are just not as unique, and the characters are just not as good. The first book in this series was enjoyable (definitely worth 3.5 - 4 stars if nothing else than for the obsessive reading bonus), but I rounded down my rating because the series overall goes downhill waaaay too quickly. By the 3rd book, I already saw some serious character development backpedaling, a ridiculous number of parallels/similarities with the Kate Daniels overarching storyline, and also I’m just so not down with the main character rolling with truly evil/violent/abusive people for the simple justification of “well they are family, amirite?” (just like in KD). So sadly I’m going to give up on this series. I’m definitely hoping Illona Andrews writes more Innkeeper Chronicles in future instead of Hidden Legacy!

Meh. It was mildly entertaining, nothing great. I won’t continue the series because I just didn’t fall in love with the characters and didn’t think they were well developed. Never cared too much about the plot and how it ended or the why. Part of the problem with the characters for me may have been the narrator. I was not a fan and don’t feel her voices/accents fit the characters well.
