I really loved this story! Willa did occasionally annoy me, which is the only reason it's not 5 stars. I couldn't help but still love Willa throughout, and she's so genuine and cute.

“I want what you want,” I tell him, loud and clear, slow and sure. I don’t want him to miss a word I say. “All-in, fair and square. I want to be afraid with you rather than fearless and alone. Only when it’s us.”

I loved this so much!! Willa and Ryder are so interesting and perfect for each other. I loved their banters, I loved the development of their relationship.. the only reason this isn't a higher rating is that said development, or more precisely the back and forth between these two, dragged on for so long it got tiring at some point. But the rating is not lower because they more than made up for it in the end.

I have to say I loved the Bergmans too and I cannot wait to read the rest of this series!!

  • A somewhat reasonable miscommunication trope.
  • A semi-relatable socially awkward FMC. There are some parts where I find her intolerable and privileged. Other times like with her mom I find her down-to-earth.
  • I actually enjoyed the sports scenes which was surprising!
  • HOH rep- I like that they spoke about the tinnitus in hard of hearing people. I myself am a HOH person who hates using hearing aids because they make headaches worse and even if I can hear sounds deciphering what’s being said is difficult. I love that they spoke on this!
  • HOH rep- I hate that the MMC family spent so much time trying to force him to use hearing aids. He shouldn’t have to if he is uncomfortable with wearing them.
  • I was bored mostly until it got to the part with the mom. She was my favorite character. I teared up so hard at the 75% mark
  • The smut was pretty good. I respect that the “I love you” came after they actually experienced things together.
  • The end was cute.

3 stelle!

there was so much unnecessary back and forth like an endless chemistry-less tennis game except i was the ball getting smacked around. and sometimes it was ryder, because all those pushy people who pretended to accept and love him were getting on my nerves

this author’s really hit or miss for me
