The writing is simple but somehow, the author still managed to weave a touching story that is at once, very sad but also joyous.

I wanted to like this book, as I have a lot of students that are really into birds and I'd hoped it would be a great book to recommend to them. Unfortunately it was so poorly written that I can't give it more than one star. (Maybe 1.5 if GoodReads allowed half-stars.) No clues were given to indicate that several days, weeks, or even months had passed. A lovely character was introduced in the beginning of the book only to have her killed off a few chapters in, and while I understand that such tragedies are sometimes necessary to drive a plot forward, this character could have been entirely eliminated without changing the core of the story. Characters made absolutist statements without any logical justification for their extreme determinism. And SO many events were packed into the plot! This story could have focused on one or two of the major plot themes, explored them in detail, developed the characters and their relationships and driving motives...but instead it reads like one long run-on sentence. (And yes, I realize that in all my griping, this is a very poorly written review with lots of run-on sentences of my own.)

Amazing when I picked up this book I thought it would be boring but now I can't put it down. I was so sad when Iona died. I feel a connection to these characters.

Not the most masterful prose, but the story is excellent and I can't wait to teach it.

This is the kind of book that reminds me why I love middle grade books. Beautiful story, sweet characters.

This is my new favorite children's book.

Perfect for fans of [b:Bridge to Terabithia|2839|Bridge to Terabithia|Katherine Paterson|https://images.gr-assets.com/books/1327880087s/2839.jpg|2237401], Wild Wings is a heart-touching story that touches on difficult topics such as abandonment, bullying, friendship, endangered species, and the power of a heart with hope and the will to do good. It will suck you in, break your heart, and build it again. It is beautiful, deep, and raw. It will make your heart sigh with sad contentment, like my falconer's heart did upon closing it at the end. It's perfect for younger readers and older alike, since the story is deep yet understandable and it's a quick read.

This book should be made into a movie. And when it is, I'll watch it.

Snatched in the Talons of an Incredible Story

This is a beautiful, powerful book about taking action from a place of compassion. I recommend it to readers young and old who seek an uplifting and inspiring journey. This book follows five children and the endangered, migrating osprey that teaches them how to expand their positive influences globally by observing and engaging with their communities locally. An emotionally charged, highly satisfying story, lovingly written.

I read this book years ago, and loved it. Enough to remember it all these years later and want to save it on goodreads!

I enjoyed this book very much. I couldn't put it down, in fact. After I finished it, I checked other people's reviews and found out that the writing was terrible and that the characters were not well drawn, etc. I decided that I shouldn't write reviews any more!!
