Immediately from the first few sentences I burst into tears, remembering the ending of the first book. Not as complicated at the first book, but still broke my heart and mended it back together.

Life is so unfair sometimes. And so is death it seems.

“What will you wish for?” My voice is soft, and though I want to watch the falling star, I find her awe with it much more appealing.
She brushes her finger across my lower lip. “For another life, but this time, you’d be there.”

I have been struggling to put into words how I feel about the tragic yet beautiful love story of Lanston & Ophelia. KM Mornova you are one of my favorite authors for the way you write about mental illness. I relate to the characters so much that I find it therapeutic to read what could be my own thoughts on paper. So I thank you, from a kindred soul who understands the call of the dark.

“You’re not strange. You’re perfectly yourself, wounds and all. No more apologies” - Lanston Nevers

Lanstons story was not over but was also never meant to be. I understand that now. Two tortured souls robbed of life only to find it in death.

This was the healing journey both Lanston and Ophelia never got when they were alive. Even in death our deepest wounds and fears can have a way of keeping us tethered and awake at night. We must learn to face them so we can truly find our peace.

There’s something so beautiful that happens when you share the same pain as another. Some hopeful feeling it gives you to know you’re not alone. And no matter how broken we may be others see our light when we only see dark.

A Ballad Of phantoms and hope was the heartbreaking yet healing closure myself and I’m sure many others needed since reading The Fabric of Our Souls

****While I find both fabric of our souls and the ballad of phantom and hope to be healing to my own mental health each individual is different. Read the trigger warnings your mental health matters*****

I did not like this book

I felt Ophelia was too whiny and Lanston was just there.
I typically enjoy sweet words but I kept rolling my eyes when he said them.

Nothing happened in the book for me. I understand the book was about the souls left behind from the fire and they are trying to find their peace to pass over but I didn’t enjoy this read.
