I finished this book June 27th and I haven't been the same since. knowing that this book exists is like knowing the most vulnerable and darkest parts of me are exposed and bare and showing themselves to the entire world.
I haven't recovered and I don't know if I ever will.
I haven't recovered and I don't know if I ever will.
This was an absolutely beautiful follow up to Fabric of Our Souls! That book must be read first.
SPOILER....
Lanston is a ghost, a phantom stuck in purgatory still 5 years after the events of FoOS. He was raised unloved, always feeling forgotten. He's feeling like he'd never find "his person" after Wynn ended up with Liam (his best friends). This story tugs at the heart strings for both Lanston and Ophelia (FMC). Both dealing with their past trauma and finding each other in death. Both diving deep to figure out how to *rest in peace* and move on to the next world.
This story was very well written and descriptive; I had no issue playing it allout in my head like a movie. It's dark, heavy, moody, and tear jerking. The HEA definitely had me blubbering.
Triggers are mental illness, suicide, depression, child abuse, domestic abuse.

I just finished this 30 seconds ago. I am still crying. There is so much I want to say here but no words will be enough for how perfect this book was for me. Ophelia and Lanston are my absolute favorite characters in any book I have ever read. I loved this so much. Excuse me while I try to recover from the number of tears that have left my eyes.
How am I sobbing buy happy?
This book...I needed it to heal the broken part that TFOOS left.
Hauntingly beautiful

This book asks so many questions that I’m sure many of us think about. After reading The Fabric of Our Souls, I knew I’d also love this book. I love the story of Lanston and Ophelia. While they weren’t able to experience any of these things together while alive, they were able to heal in purgatory. Seeing Wynn and Liam in this one was beautiful too
3.5 ★’s
"I've longed for a soul like yours. And here you've been all this time. Ophelia, even if we are stuck on this earth forever, I would find solace in knowing we are together."
This book had so many good one lingers and was written beautifully but something about it just didn’t draw me in and captivate me in the way I wanted it to.
I struggled to connect with our main characters and the romance. While I heavily connected to the mental health aspect of this book I really struggled to connect with the other aspects of the story sadly. Saying that the overall story that this book gave to us was truly beautiful 🤍.
“I would wait for you if it meant walking the cold castle walls of a cathedral until I lost my own identity. Until all I knew was you.”
Okay, so I loved The Fabric of Our Souls, but when I tell you I loved this book 10x MORE!!!! Lanston was my favorite character and I was elated when I found out he had his own book coming! The story of Lanston and Ophelia is beautifully tragic. You explore how mental health is shaped from childhood and how we carry the trauma of our pasts even in death. We’re shown how love is the light that we as humans need in the world, how powerful it is. The way that K.M. writes is so captivating that you feel as the characters feel. I was immersed in the story and never wanted it to end. It’s safe to say I’m becoming obsessed with her. Please, please check your trigger warnings with this one, mental health matters.
PS. I quite literally SOBBED for a solid 45 minutes throughout the last 9 chapters of this book. So if you feel like you need a good cry, this one is for you!!

**spoiler alert** This one took me a few days to read. I couldn't just run through it. There is a lot to unpack and not with the characters but just because it made me really think about how the others negative words can stick with you for so long and you don't even realize it. Like, you may work hard to not believe any of it, but seriously it will follow you in everything you do.
Lanston walked around with so much on his shoulders and all he wanted to was to be loved and remembered by those that he loved in the living world that he carried those feelings into the afterlife. Then he meets Ophelia and she is running from the darkness and so scared that being around him and keeping him to herself that he will be consumed by it as well.
If you choose to read this, please read The Fabric of Our Souls first. You will want to, as this is a continuation. Also, go into it with the mind that it is not spicy, and the themes can be a bit heavy so open your mind and read any trigger warnings. I hope you enjoy.

There aren't enough stars in the sky to rate this book properly.
The queen has done it yet again. Km moronova has written this book in such a way that it is pure poetry for the mind. I was lost in a sea of sadness and hope as I dove into this story.
"Is there anything quite as sad as that? A story left unfinished."
This book is best read after The Fabric Of Our Souls as it follows our beloved Lanston Nevers' journey in purgatory, in which Lanston stumbles upon a lovely phantom named Ophelia and is instantly smitten by her.
"She is a ballad of mournful movements, bones, tattered lace- a symphony unlike any I've endured."
You will get pieces of other Harlow Sanctum phantoms along the way as these two make their journey to the after life.
Will they "survive" the trials set before them? Or will they succumb to total darkness along the way?
"We create our own whispering darkness, don't we?"

Ms. KM must be cutting onions cause I’m crying 😭
This book is so sad yet so beautiful, angsty yet soothing.
Lanston and Ophelia’s story is quite possibly better than the one told in TFOOS.
What happens to two tortured souls after they die? Apparently they have one of the most epic love stories, have pretty fun adventures, and sort out their trauma.
The writing in this book is just so poetic and both characters have such a way with words.
My only minor complaint is that we don’t know what happens to Lanston and Ophelia after they pass on but I can excuse it because it does leave it up to interpretation based on the reader’s beliefs.
10/10 read if you loved Lanston in TFOOS and want a good cry
P.S. this one is pretty heavy on mental health so check your triggers ❤️
