Thank you so much for this ARC! I knew going into ballad it was going to hurt, but this was more than I could’ve imagined. I am so thankful that Lanston and Ophelia found the peace that they deserved, that they found it in each other. I did not think that Lan would accept his death, my whole soul shattered when he walked away from Wynn and Liam… twice… Once again, Moronova wrote a beautiful masterpiece, I’m going to go cry for the next three weeks.

Tears: Enough to fill the ocean

Favorite quotes:
Love never truly dies. Time can not steal everything away from us.

Together we are no longer a small insignificant candle against the dark pillars of the world. We are an inferno- a growing, living beast that demands to be witnessed, to find our kindred souls.

My lip quivers, but it replaced with hope. My story can begin here. We can leave everything else behind.

I honestly didn’t know what to expect when I started this book other than I knew there was a 10/10 chance that I was going to cry. And, yes, I was correct. This was a beautiful story filled with acceptance and love and how just because your mind is wired differently, doesn’t make you less than. I loved it. It was beautifully written and you could feel the emotion seeping from the pages. What a wonderful ending for a wonderful character.

This is such a beautiful story. Much like The Fabric of our souls, this book broke me while simultaneously healing me. It reminded me that even on our darkest days it is worth chasing the light because it does get better

After I have stopped crying and can put my thoughts into words:

I really did not have high expectations for this - with it being a paranormal romance AND me just not thinking anything could live up to the fabric of our souls. I could not have been more wrong. This writing was absolutely beautiful, to where you’re thinking “how does a writer even come up with this?”.. the quotes themselves were just everything. I really thought I was not going to cry (I made it so far into the book without it!!), but as soon as I hit the last 4ish chapters… the watergates were open and I could not stop. This book was heartbreaking. It was beautiful. It mended parts of my soul I didn’t realize were still hurting from TFOOS. Please check TWs and read this. Please.

Lastly, I do feel like this is only a 4 star read for me, but any book that makes me sob this uncontrollably gets an extra star.

I’ll write a review later I am crying too hard currently

This was a beautiful love story about two souls finally finding peace in the balance between darkness & light.

I think a fully fleshed out review is going to have to wait a while; This will most likely have to be a re-read next year. The prose was just so different from TFOOS that it threw me out of the story and I just couldn't recover. All of the characters felt like they were new characters with recycled names; None of them felt familiar.

For future readers: I genuinely don't feel like you need to read The Fabric Of Our Souls to understand anything in this book. If you want my personal opinion, I would recommend treating these two books as interconnected standalones. I read TFOOS ~5 months ago and I think that might be a bit too close together, so the experience with TFOOS clouded my experience with ABOPAH.

Where to start with this book! Let’s start with I was crying by the end of the first page.. but that’s just the beginning… I absolutely loved this book just as much maybe even more then the first one! I cried a lot more throughout the rest of the book… watching Lanston grow as a character and seeing him with Ophelia was amazing. Ophelia herself is phenomenal I love her as a character and I really connected with her. All the ups and downs they both really helped each other find what they needed. They gave each other love and warmth they never really had when they were alive. I just finished the book and I can’t even fully process all the emotions that are running through my head… I loved the ending it was perfect and exactly what Lanston deserved!!! KMM did good by Lanston and Ophelia both! If you are planning to read this book i have two warnings one read book one first! And two make sure you have plenty of tissues because you’ll need them. One box simply is not enough!!!
