The illustration was fine but this comic really is just a bland summary of what happened in the actual book. What I liked about the first book was the wit and sarcasm of the characters dialogue and that is completely forgotten in this comic. Really feels like I just speed-read the actual book.
3.5 stars rounded up. I enjoyed it, but it was pretty cliche. The cloak of colors was beautiful though!
Overall this was a great summary of the novel Brightly Woven with some changes. I found that the romance was toned down a lot, some important factors to the storyline were missing or changed and the rescue and ending were different. Overall, those factors are why I deducted a star because I felt that it took away from an already perfect story. Putting those factors aside, I absolutely loved the artwork and seeing the story come to life. I absolutely loved North's Cloak and how accurate it was to the original story and how Sydelle's dreams were portrayed into illustration. The artwork in this book was just so well done!
pretty artwork, awfully executed plot, one dimensional characters. save yourself the time..
I found this to such a fun take on this story. I thought this graphic novel and it was able to create a more complete story then the book had previously. I really did like the changes as of aging down he hero. I also thought the graphics and art did add a lot to the story. It was a really fun read and loved how it wrapped up the whole story!
This one wasn't on my radar. I hadn't heard of it until I saw it in the library and then I read that it was a newly adapted version of an older work. I must say it did feel like an older work, having read (only) one of Bracken's more recent books.
This was a cute story. I wasn't super invested in anything though and the only thing I did find interesting was the use of magic in the colour of the cloaks that the wizards wore. Amplified, by the gorgeous art work.
I think this may be the case that, because I haven't read the original source I probably missed out on a lot more detail and context that may have roped me into the world a bit more, but I think it also lies in the fact that it was a story that just didn't really interest me.
Pick it up, give it a go and enjoy! >(^_^)<
