TL;DR - amazingly well written, full of memorable scenes and vivid imagery and a surprising amount of subtlety. Also full of gore. Proceed with extreme caution.
Lots of awesome things, lots of very uncomfortable things. Very explicit gore and lots of it. Not for you if you are squeamish with regards to violence, living meat, torture scenes, or morally confusing choices that involve any of the above as a consequence. But like I said, it was full of a lot of awesome things, had a really solid understanding of its own themes and surprised me many times with how good the writing could be. Also stuck the landing and almost made me cry, and I don't cry when reading books. I thought it was going to be a grimdark slog through an edgy setting, but it is a consciously utilized application of...gruesomeness, for lack of a better term.
Surprising winner, this one, if a bit covered in viscera.

I wanted to listen to this because I love the Dungeon Crawler Carl series. There are some similarities to that series in this story, but they are quite different.
I enjoyed the story and how it was set up. I found the main character interesting and liked the supporting characters.
I'm not a fan of how things turned out in the very end, which gave me a bit of a sour taste.

Man. If you love DCC, you’ll find a lot of familiar things to love in this book. But it is entirely its own thing. Plenty of heart, plenty of body horror, plenty of lore.

no thank you. like, its FINE, but its too long and the pacing is rough. Just didnt work for me overall though some of the body horror & action were well written and I did enjoyed some moments.
