I wrote this whole review and then lost it so I doubt this will be as good as the first time.

The Puck Drop is about two characters: Michael (a former hockey player) is interning with the hockey team to learn to be a coach and Naomi who is also interning with the hockey team as part of her project for her statistics class…oh and also as a last ditch effort to bond with her dad, the hockey coach.

I loved The Puck Drop, it was a fun read. The chemistry between the characters was great and I loved how they developed a real friendship before feelings really started to factor in. They were just so cute together. They both also had some real issues going on. As I said earlier Naomi is interning as a last attempt to fix the relationship between her and her father. Her parents got divorce to which she always blamed hockey for. Her dad always seemed more interested in hockey than his family, her mother went off and started a new family, and Naomi and her twin sister have drifted apart over the last couple years leaving Naomi to feel left behind and forgotten. Her sister attends the same school as her and somehow her dad makes time for her but always seems to break plans with Naomi. So you can see she has sister issues as well as daddy issues. On the other side Michael is still dealing with the death of his parents a couple years back. He doesn’t like to talk about it and so part of him is always closed off but he finds his guard dropping around Naomi. He’s also struggling with not being able to play hockey anymore and being on the sidelines as part of the coaching staff.

I really liked the family aspects that were in this book. It’s always nice to see characters interact with their family members. Naomi has her dad and sister both physically at the school with her so we see them run into each other. Michael had moved away for college so his sister is still back east but he talks about her quite a bit and chats on the phone with her.

I’m really interested to read the other books in this series and hope I have as much fun with them as I did this one.

The characters were cute! I loved Naomi and Michael, and the healing they were both going through. The writing was not good, with a lot of grammar and spelling errors it got kind of tough, so I ended up skimming to get to the meaty parts of the story.

If you don't like 3rd act break ups, this is not the book for you.

If you are looking for a full on hockey romance, this is not for you.

If you want strangers to friends to lovers with a lot of honesty? This is for you!
