Like Real People Do by E.L. Massey was a four star book for me. Hockey romances usually end up highly rated by me. This was on the better end of hockey romance books. Like Real people Do handles topics of anxiety disorders and epilepsy fairly well. The characters were interesting and the romance between the boys, despite them moving a little fast, avoided insta-love. At least I think so.
There was little to no real plot here, but thats what you get with romance like this. The characters compensate for that. There's just enough plot, just enough romance and just a touch of smut.
This book was worth the read.

this is not the kind of book i’d usually go for, but the cover really drew me in (i guess i did judge a book by its cover lol). reading this felt like a warm hug. i really loved everything about it. the found family vibes, the hurt comfort, the funny and realistic banter, and all the rep. oh and the characters (especially jeff. i love jeff <3).
i can’t wait to read the rest of this series, and while i know everything has to come to an end, i hope this one never ends.
also. i need a cody & james book so badddd!!

This book is very obviously published fanfiction and doesn’t really try to hide it. While cute and fluffy, it does not stand as its own book. It’s exactly the sort of piece you want to read after finishing the source material, but reads like a bad caricature as a published novel.
There is no plot, no substantial conflict, and the character development happens in the first 20 pages of the book out of no where.
Overall, you’ll get a better experience just reading Check, Please! and checking out the fandom online.
