“We are the masters of our own fates- we decide how to go forward”

Tears. Real tears. Literally flowing down my face on the last page. Honestly, this book could have been the finale of the series (thank goodness it’s not though).

I’m trying to avoid spoilers in my reviews but the twists in this book were ones that DID NOT even cross my mind. Clever lady Ms Maas

Spoilers!!!!!!!
Gagged is the only word I have for this book. There was so much going on and I loved every second of it. Aelin... referring to her as that in this book was kinda wild ,but I loved it at the same time. Her and my boy Ro Ro (Rowan) are icons and they better fuck the next book because the edging in this one was insane. I felt so bad for my pookie Aedion who definitely heard them sometimes LOL.  I am just so glad she was able to meet him and he didn't end up dying. Especially since the scene with her saving him was so iconic. Aelin truly grew into her self and came to terms with the fact that she is the Queen of Terrasen. That final scene when they were approaching Terrasen I got chills like homegirl finally made it home.

Chaol was something else this book, like I  understand his hesitation but don't take that out on my girl Aelin. Obviously they left off on bad terms ,but his immediate thinking of her wanting to do evil with her powers was also crazy. Choal went through so much and to navigate that without one of his closest friends would be hard for anyone. I understand the Chaol hate and honestly he was testing me through this book because he kept fucking up ,but so did a lot of the characters in this book at various points. You could tell he hates himself and then now that he's paralyzed like homeboy did not deserve that. I just hope him a Nesryn can figure out whatever they can at the Torre. Also Chaol and Dorian just need to fuck like those boys are gay and in love.

Dorian my pookie bear did not deserve to have that demon inside him. Every time his chapters came up I almost started crying like he did not deserve that. The only thing that I thought was comical was that my boy didn't know his goddamn name but knew that Manon was a baddie and was rizzing her up. "I'll bleed whatever color you'll tell me too" and you mean to tell me he said that with a demon inside him fighting him. This certified my love for Dorian so much more.

Manon the baddie she is being confused at her attraction to Dorain is so hilarious and her literally flying to Rifthold twice for him.... down bad tremendously. Her "crisis of faith" in this book was so beautiful to see because what they were doing in Morath was awful ,but she truly trusted her grandmother. I was honestly surprised at her unwavering faith of her grandmother despite seeing what they were doing. Asterin's story made me so physically unwell like fuck their grandmother on all accounts. Just thinking about it right now makes me want to cry. I just wished she went back to him just once to say goodbye or something ,but the fact he died without seeing her again. I'm deadass crying again rn. Aelin and Manon's fight was crazy I felt like my two besties were fighting, little did they know they were fighting basically on the same side. I need them to link up again in the next book. I also need Manon and Elide to link up again cuz their friendship is so special to me I can't explain it.

Lysandra making a come back from assassin's blade was a spoiler I got ,but she was such an icon in this book. I love how she takes on the motherly/ big sister role for evelyn and protects her in every way she can. I never really hated her in assassin's blade I just thought it was funny how it was always on sight with her and Aelin regardless of the situation. I also loved how she was the one to kill Arobyn like fuck that weirdo. One thing I can never get over is the fact she is a shape shifter and when magic fell she wasn't in her true form and she had no idea who she actually was. Like that is so sick and twisted like I feel like shape shift abilities should have a revert option where they just go back to themselves. On a happier note I am so on board if Aedion and her get together because that would be so iconic. Their banter and sly glances......yeah I peeped that.

I feel like I have written a whole dissertation for a review ,but I am going to end it with this. I understand why people think reading Assassin's Blade before this is a good idea since there is so much to do with it ,but I would have personally hated reading it here. Not only would I have been stressed about Dorain the whole time I wouldn't have enjoyed it as much. Even if I read it after Crown of midnight I still feel like it would be a weird place. I think that it is so important to understand who she was before Endovier then the kings champion then Queen of Terrasen Heir of fire. Imma end it here but if the book is going to being a million pages long so will my reviews unfortunately. I have way too many thoughts about this series and as you can tell I am a yapper through and through.

Ohh wow. So many great things happened in this book!
Such a natural progression of the storylines and overall plot.

so damn glad to see Arobynn finally get the ending he deserved. So happy Aelin and Lysandra got to carry out their justice on the horrible, wicked man.
