I found a lot of this very fascinating, however not all that helpful in how to actually improve your sleep.
The Sleep Revolution instantly caught my eye because I love learning about sleeping patterns and dreams. I think this book would be ideal for those who are new to this topic. Although it is a well researched that should be given credit to Arianna. I enjoyed reading about her early life alongside practices she does in the morning. This is my first read from Arianna and I will be checking out Thrive.
I'll save you the nine + hours this audiobook lasts.
1) Sufficient sleep is important for physical, cognitive, and psychological well-being
2) All the sleep advice you've heard everywhere else (keep a regular schedule, don't look a screens right before bed, make sure your room is dark and a comfortable temperature, don't eat large, heavy meals right before bed, cut of caffeine intake in the early afternoon, etc).
3) Endless padding, self-congratulatory anecdotes, an entire chapter of sports stats, and a weird and unnecessary helping of heteronormativity, gender essentialism, and fatphobia.

This book is great for people who do not value sleep and need to be convinced otherwise, but, as someone who already valued sleep and was just looking for some tips to help my partner with his insomnia, it wasn't helpful. The notes I took could have easily been condensed into an generic sleep article, of which hundreds already exist on Google. I adore Arianna Huffington, but she is not a sleep expert and most of her advice for improvement of sleep is anecdotal, though she clearly did lots of research to prove sleep, in itself, is invaluable.
Reading this book will convince you that sleep is way underrated in our culture and being rested solves a lot of life's problems. It is a great insight, but it could have been written slightly more concisely – there was no need for 400 pages to repeat the same idea over and over again.
This wasn't a deep look at any particular topic... the science, the culture, sleep disorders, etc. but covered a lot of angles. It was both informative and entertaining. And I feel totally vindicated about going to bed at 9:30pm, now that I know that Tom Brady goes to sleep at 8:30pm.
A good first book on the topic, though if this isn't your first rodeo, there's not much new in here.
Very interesting and easy read for a non-fiction because it reads like a conversation on person with Arianna Huffington but it is also full-packed with scientific research. This book is for everybody who wants a good or even better night sleep.
4.5 stars. Really fascinating. And provided helpful hints without being preachy - I appreciate this!!
Not much of a revolution. Put down the electronic distractions and get some sleep.
