Loved Lo & Lil together and how they are best friends firsts and lovers second. This book had me cryingggg. They both have a lot to work on so I’m hoping we see that in the next books 🥲

Somehow, this story hooked me. Is it the best I've ever read? No, definitely not. But it is entertaining which is more than enough.
I have to say that I don't really like Lo for some reason, but maybe we'll get to know him better in the future. I really like Lily and Rose and I hope to see more of her sisters in the future. I somehow also like Connor, even though he was annoying at first haha.
Reading about all the ways in which Lily and Lo enable their respective addictions is not easy and at times, painful. I really hope they both get help in the next books and I'm excited to see them grow, as individual persons and as a couple.

Purely subjective but this book was SO GOOD. I needed this rollercoaster and it hit home way too hard. Is this a romance? Not really rather following characters. Is this accurate representation? I don't know about the addiction part but dealing with mental illness and how dynamics change was WAY too accurate. Lily and Lo have my heart and felt really realistic. The problems they face and behaviour just made sense. Besides, the side-characters are pretty interesting and add to the story.
Yes, it's character based and probably over dramatic but if you like the characters the ending will have you in a chokeholed (at least I was lol). Not overthinking this review but straight off the bat and influenced by the emotional ending it's five stars.

I loved the characters (Loren Hale has my heart), but did find Lily so frustrating at times (eek I know that’s the point, and its meant to be difficult to talk about and I know its my own biases that made it uncomfortable). I am looking forward to the rest of the books because I want to see them healthy and happy - you do really want to root for them both. In saying that, I do think a lot more could have happened in the first book, the last 50 pages were the most engaging part. It was also really heartwarming see Rose and Lily’s dynamic shift so much towards the end (found family kinda vibes with Connor and Ryke too).

This is a very heavy book focusing on two young adults (to me, people at age 20 and 21 are really young adults) who had been struggling with addictions pretty much throughout half of their lives. Their friendship was definitely toxic. Like they never learned to tell the other what they really want because they were two cowards who loved each other but were afraid of any changes and possible destruction of their current friendship if anything changed. Things were a little better after they became monogamous and officially dating each other, but the story did not really take a turn until Connor and Ryke showed up. They were the true stars who brought changes to Lily and Lo, and ultimately led them to face their issues and go to rehab/therapy. Without them and Rose, I do not think Lily and Lo would have the gut to change and would quickly spiral down their old path, based on their natural subconscious reactions to the stressful situations (for example the gala). I personally do really like either Lily and Lo (well they might be better in the second book and we will see), but I love Connor, Rose and Ryke.

Heat: 🔥

This book was truly a masterpiece 😮‍💨

It wasn‘t cheesy or overdramatized at all and felt so real and also realistic, we got to see what living with horrible addictions is like.
I annotated a whole lot and it‘s unbelievable how many emotions this book made me feel. Never was there any moment where I was bored oder felt like this wasn‘t worth a second of my time.

I‘m really looking forward to the subsequent books in this series and to get to see the further journey of Lily and Lo and all the lovable side characters (btw the side characters are chef‘s kiss 😩)!

I‘m so grateful I got to read this wonderful piece of literature 🙏🏼

I have been in SUCH a romance book lull recently — everything is boring me and I haven’t really been rooting for any of the characters I’ve been introduced to. this is such a breath of fresh air: lily and lo (not a fan of lo’s name but I’ll get past it) make it so difficult to not be in their corner throughout this book. I actually did not cringe ONCE reading this!! I’ve never read about addiction in such a well-approached manner. it’s confronting but not jarring, easy to read while opening my mind to new (at least to me!) struggles and complexities. I’m invested in all of the characters’ storylines and there isn’t an authorial decision so far that I’ve questioned or disagreed with. it’s so rare for me to be connected to a character-driven storyline and I’m loving it!

genuinely very excited for the rest of the series!
