An eye opening look into the working class life in England in the 1930s. The descriptions lined up well with what I'd seen in the TV show Call the Midwife. It's a world completely foreign to me but quite interesting.

orwell’s voice is stellar and i enjoyed the look into interwar leftism but he mainly comes across as a hypocritical, reactionary, patronizing old fool. note to self: don’t read political books by the brits

This is a challenging book to read at first. So much detail! But I truly loved his analysis of our current system and his hopes for a better life for those who suffer from it.
