I am in love with Ender Wiggin. That's all.

It's hard to reconcile Orson's personal homophobia with the tolerant views advocated by his books. Though not as gripping or surprising as Ender's Game, Speaker for the Dead is still solid sci-fi, with great insights into the mind of how alien minds could work, from piggies to a self-aware AI. There's an extra treat for Brazilians, who might find the broken Portuguese funny.

This was a re read of Speaker for the dead. It has been my favorite book for years. Unfortunately it lost some of the magic (as I remembered most of the surprises), but its still a fantastic and engaging story.

This book started slowly. I wanted to know why the scientist was killed, but it seemed to take a long time for everyone to figure out that mystery. I remember feeling like the characters were all too riddled with guilt. Of course, I also know that both Ender's Game and this sequel won both the Nebula Award and Hugo Award in 1985 and 1986, which is really impressive. I need to revisit this series and dedicate a good chunk of time to exploring Ender's world.

I love love loved Ender's Game. This wasn't as good, in my opinion, but I still flew through it. It touches on some interesting themes that are uncommon in Sci/Fi: families and adult responsibility, namely.
