The last third of the book with Tom Sawyer was terrible and it didn't give a satisfactory ending at all.

I can understand why it’s a classic and I imagine it really made people consider race relations and justice when it was first published. Huck is certainly likable enough but I didn’t like how Jim was often infantilized, but there wasn’t much agency assigned to Black folks in those days. The book was no doubt important in its time but there are more recent works that depict what Twain sought to achieve more effectively. My rating is mostly for historical significance and less for personal enjoyment.
