I found this book to be at times delightful while more often being annoying and infuriating.  The setting of the book and flippancy towards Jim wears on the reader as the narrative devolves in cruelty and frustration.  I presume this book was published in periodical form based on it's cadence and structure.  I think this book would have been better cut almost in half.  Most of what is interesting from a modern day perspective has been deal with by that point.

Found this novel held up well over time. I still hate Tom Sawyer but he’s more tolerable with context RE adult opinions of what youth do with their spare time and under the effects of the media (hence Twain’s satire).

Incredibly excited to read Perceival Everett’s James.
