I enjoyed the action portion of the story but the love story was over the top. Sex scenes were annoying while listening to it as I worked out. They took forever and did not distract me which is why I enjoy audiobooks while I work out.

Actual rating 3.5 stars. This book was interesting enough to keep me reading but overall kind of just okay for me. The relationship between Crawford and Holly felt forced, and there weren't many red herrings, making it pretty predictable. But I was pretty interested to see how it would all shake out.

Good plot, decent characters. There just wasn’t anything special or anything that stood out in this book for me. It took me two and half months to finish. I’m the girl that will give a book 2 or 3 stars and then when you hit me with the twist at the end, I’ll be amazed enough to bump the rating up to 4 or 5. And this time.. it just didn’t do it for me.

4⭐️ Friction was an intense ride of Texas Ranger Crawford Hunt fighting for custody of his daughter Georgia from his in-laws, and gets caught in the middle of an attack in the court room. As he saves the judge from the gunman and runs after the culprit, everything turns upside down. The ensuing chaos that happens in the lives of those in the courtroom in the days after the incident is a rollercoaster of events, emotion, and eye opening moments that make for a great story.

I've only read a few chapters of this but so far these are my thoughts:

1. The prologue kind of threw me off. I didn't really get who was who and it just kind of throws you into it. Once I actually got to the first chapter I realized that it was a snapshot of future events, but it kind of threw me off.
2. I did not expect the judge to jump into anything with the ranger guy so quickly. That was actually kind of disappointing. We will see how it moves forward but I feel like there should have been so lead up to it. Maybe I just wasn't feeling it the day I started it.
3. I will keep reading this. It is for a book club so I want to give it a fair shot. But so far I don't love it, but also don't not love it. We will see which way I lean as I move forward...

Update:
I'm finished! Wow it was actually really good. I became pretty invested in the characters, even Crawfords dad. Loved Crawford and hollys relationship. And Crawfords relationship with his daughter was really sweet. It was a nice conclusion and I enjoyed the pace of the plot development. Overall I really enjoyed it. Corny, entertaining and easy read. I plan on reading another novel by Sandra Brown.

Very quick read, I didn't want to put it down! Just the right mix of steamy love scenes and action. You can't help but fall in love with The characters, particularly Crawford.

A good example of a Sandra Brown romantic suspense novel. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The narrator was very good, although there were a few technical things that I noticed. A sentence here or there was obviously edited in. You can tell by the slight change in the tone of the narrator.

My only quibble with the twisty-turny plot was the ultimate motive of the perpetrator. It wasn't powerful enough, imo.

I recommend the book to romantic suspense lovers, and the audio for those who enjoy listening.

This may be the first CD book I listened to and wish I had gotten a book instead. I just did not like the narrator's voice. The mystery and story was good. This was my first Sandra Brown "book".

Exciting and fast-paced book. Definitely not a YA book; a few explicit love scenes. Plot was great and characters very likable.
