This was an excellent novel for happening onto it.
It was beautifully written.
Some times I would have to put it down, stare at a wall, and reflect on my life choices and why I am reading a novel like this.
It was very well played out and powerful.
At some points I would forget that an extremely intellectual woman had written it, it was that powerful.
I adored it.

This book was not enjoyable to read. But I think that is a testament to Joyce Carol Oates' skill. There is a certain authenticity to it. It really feels like you're reading the diary of someone who isn't all there. It is sick at times and darkly funny at others. It ends very abruptly and while I don't buy it 100%, I was also glad it was over.

Excellent book. It very bluntly goes into the mind and actions of a sexual predator a sociopath. Very well written.

This is one that I forgot I read but still haunts me. I kept thinking it was a different book that I had read until it popped up as recommended one day.
This is definitely a book that scarred me, its a terrifying book that will most definitely keep you up at night
