Very well researched but at times there might be too many facts-things like the mileage on a car or what color shoes someone had on.

“If anyone in Montgomery wanted to kill Reverend King, they waited too late, because Martin Luther King is in all of us now, and in order to kill Martin Luther King you’ll have to kill every Black in the city of Montgomery.”
We all know KING, the civil rights leader, but this biography gives us his whole story, as a human, flaws and all. I think we often forget famous people are humans too. I really appreciated this new perspective.
“No matter how strongly King stressed the American values of his movement, no matter how often he quoted from the Constitution, the Bible, and patriotic songs, he was still perceived and treated as a threat.”
My two main questions after reading this:
Why are presidents usually (always?) pro war?
Why does white fragility kill so many people of color?
“Every racist in the country has killed Dr. King.”

‘But in hallowing King we have hollowed him.’ This line from the epilogue accurately sums up my own previous understanding of Martin Luther King. I knew the highlight reels, the easily marketable bits. Eig does an excellent job bringing the whole man to life, showcasing his remarkableness as well as his humanity, flaws and all. He delves into King’s struggle not just for racial equality but against the Vietnam War and poverty. This is a fascinating and well-researched biography.
