I’ve read this biography twice because it’s such an amazing work that tells the story of the fullness of the life of MLK. I loved that the author set out to tell his life story from every angle and not just watered down version that most of us have been told since his assassination. I think even in talking about MLK’s flaws as a man, husband, father and leader that the author was very gracious to not paint in an unforgiving light, but is a complexity that we all have. While I enjoy reading about history so also didn’t find the book overly tedious to read because while there was a lot of information it was written in a way to put his humanity first.

This book is truly the most complete book of King’s life. It’s absolutely informative, and portrays a side of King we were not privy to. One that is certainly flawed in many ways. As are humans as a whole. I will say if you want to keep King on a moral pedestal this may not be the read for you.
