Such an interesting book, but it was too long. I may read at a later date. My fiance loves it 🙏🏽

I started listening to this Pulitzer Prize winner yesterday. 25% in and I’ve already learned so much about young MLK Jr, his family, and his educational journey. I’m excited to continue today.

Finished on 2/5/25. This was such an engaging, eye opening read. The author interviewed many of Dr. Kings close friends and colleagues, giving insight on his mental health and spiritual evolution. I wasn’t aware he was strongly opposed to the Vietnam war and it ruined his relationship with LBJ.
I strongly recommend this book. If you are an audiobook listener, this was very well read.

This book is SO. GOOD. Incredibly well written. I listened to the audio book, and the narration is superb. It’s hard to imagine how a 688 page book where you know the ending can possibly be a page turner, but it is. It’s also hard to imagine the suspense that builds and overwhelming sadness that occurs at the end. How often do you cry about a historic event that you’ve known about your whole life? Yet I cried. The writing is just that good. It is a beautiful, whole-life tribute to a complicated, real-life human. It also gives well-deserved justice to Coretta Scott King. Our nation was, and is, a tragedy. MLK was an incredible, God-loving and inspired radical. He was never safe. it’s time we quit sanitizing him, and live into his revolutionary legacy. King is a book for people who are interested in MLK, American history, civil rights, the Christian faith, and government corruption. It has it all.
