Kane Barlow and Daisy Sullivan Story!
✨Addiction comes in all forms, and mine is her.’✨
Kane
is broody and grumpy after how things went in his past, it impacted every aspect of his new personality. But when his best friend River informs him that Daisy, River’s sister, the object of his hate is moving in and he needs his help watching over her.
Kane hasn’t seen Daisy in six years and a lot has changed, all except the way how she still affected him.
Daisy 💙
Moving to Chicago to share an apartment with her older brother was bad enough.
But now after six years she faced with the one person she never thought she would see again, Kane Barlow the guy who she had a one night stand with the guy who obviously wasn’t happy to see her after how things ended with them the last time they were in a room together.
But now that she has returned Kane and Daisy have had a kind of sexy prank war going on.. but whatever he thought he could do to get under her skin is a win for him.. and the same too for Daisy as they both stands firm in trying not to give in to the inevitable feelings they both obviously still have……well most times.
✨I lived six years without her and didn't find an ounce of happiness that didn't belong to a little black puck.
I won't go another six without her.’✨
🌼
Kane determination to get answers after noticing something he didn’t know about Daisy condition spurs him on to getting to the truth.
This revelation left no doubt in his mind that whatever hate he was harboring towards Daisy is completely unjustified, and this only flares up his pent up feelings towards Daisy who acts as if their feelings are not valid. But this is a challenge that Kane is eager to accept!
But.. there’s something that Daisy has been keeping from Kane that might’ve changed things long ago, and this just might set Kane off.
"✨We need to stop before one of us gets too invested."
"Too late."✨
To say things began to change between them is an understatement.
‘🌼Material things are replaceable. She isn't. I'd know, since I've tried replacing her since the moment I left.’🌼
This was narrated by the very talented Aiden Snow and Lily Drake who is new to me .. while I enjoyed the narration I can’t help but think it would’ve been better in Duet Dual styled narration.. while the narrators did amazingly despite my peeve.. my only complaint, but honestly it’s not bad.
S.J.Sylvis MMCs are always delicious and the the stories quite good as this one highlighted how the FMC deals with a chronic illness and the MMC struggles with a family with addiction, but S.J.Sylvis still give us the sweetest spice you crave.
However, the first book is still top of my List, and now I can’t wait to see how the next installment in this series will play out as I’m excited to listen to Malikai story.

‘I research another article about Lupus. The more knowledge I have, the better I can take care of her.’

This guy was fiercely protective possessive and obviously obsessed with his girl and I loved it!

Rush the Edge by SJ Sylvis is a brother's best friend hockey romance that I listened to on audio narrated by Aiden Snow and Lilly Drake. This is the third book in the Blue Devils Hockey series.
I love SJ Books! She does an amazing job pulling me into the story and falling in love with her characters. I loved the relationship between Kane and Daisy. Their relationship was messy, but you couldn't help but root for them. I really enjoyed getting both of their points of views throughout the book. It really brought the story to life.
I can't wait for the next book in the series Test The Ice to be released on November 27, 2025, so I can get Malaki and Reese's story.
Aiden and Lilly did an amazing job on the narration. They both really know how to bring a story to life. I look forward to listening to more of their work in the future.
I would recommend this book if you're looking for a brother's best friend romance, enemies to lover's romance, or a hockey romance.

I can't fully explain it, but the pacing in the books in this series feels off. I definitely still enjoy reading them, but there's just something that pulls me out of the story.

I’m not really a fan of the ‘make each other jealous by trying to get with other people’ trope and this was prevalent throughout - felt like it was constant tit for tat, ‘I did this because you did that’ which got old fast
Enjoyable enough to not DNF but ultimately I didn’t love Daisy & Kane as much as Scottie & Emory or Sunny & Rhodes
Rush the Edge is hands-down my favorite of the series! SJ Sylvis nailed it with Kane and Daisy’s story—everything from their razor-sharp banter to the way the chemistry just sizzles off the page kept me hooked.
I loved how much Kane and Daisy “hate” each other—the snark, the sass, the playful digs. But underneath it all, you can feel that simmering tension, especially watching Kane try (and fail) to ignore that he still has feelings for Daisy no matter how hard he tries to deny it. That push-and-pull made me absolutely giddy.
I ate up every bit of their banter, the delicious tension, and that gorgeous slow burn angst. It’s my absolute catnip.
I’m a total sucker for the brother’s best friend trope, and this book delivered it perfectly. The tension between them builds in all the right ways, making every look, every snarky comeback, and every stolen moment even hotter. And when it finally explodes? Whew. The sexy scenes were 🔥🔥🔥 and worth every bit of that build-up.
And I have to shout out the audiobook—Aiden Snow and Lily Drake were phenomenal! Their narration captured every ounce of the intense chemistry, the sharp banter, and the raw emotion. Kane and Daisy didn’t just feel like characters on a page—they jumped to life and pulled me right into their story.
If you’re looking for a romance packed with banter, heat, angst, and one of the best brother’s best friend stories I’ve read, Rush the Edge is the one you don’t want to miss.

S.J. delivered another fantastic book. This whole series is a must-read.
I adored Kane and Daisy’s story. It was full of hilarious banter and delicious tension. I loved their back-and-forth aggravation. It had me cackling.
Protective Kane had me swooning. He went into caretaker mode immediately when Daisy showed the first signs of sickness.
This audiobook was terrific, and the narrators, Aiden Snow and Lilly Darke, did an excellent job bringing the characters to life. This book is available to read on KU. I hope you love it as much as I do!
Quotes:
Daisy Sullivan is the only person in my life who is able to look beyond the mask and know what I’m feeling, no matter how hard I deny it.
She was the girl I was never supposed to look at, let alone touch. Except, I did, and I haven’t been the same since.
“God, I’ve missed you.”
Such a bitter truth.
“No you haven’t,” she says quietly.
“I have,” I argue. “But I hate myself for it.”
Surely she believes me, because it’s the truth.
“Careful, Kane,” I say. “You’re starting to act like you care.”
He snaps his head to me, and I jerk backward. “You’re a damn fool if you think I don’t care.”

Rush the Edge - ARC Review
Kane & Daisy have a history, like that brother's best friend, sneaking behind his back, first-time kind of history. Until Daisy let him go. He could never get over it/her, and after that night he started to hold a grudge and when Daisy suddenly moves to a different town to live with her brother, she gets to be neighbors with Kane, which only makes him spiral more.
They want nothing to do with each other, or do they? Daisy is in desperate need of a job to pay for her medication as she has an autoimmune disease (in remission), which Kane doesn't know about. So what better job as to be the new Macott for the Chicago Blue devils. The interview was arranged by yours truely.
It is a lot of back and forth, a lot of banter. Kane is a big bully sometimes, but his got a big heart underneath all of that. He also has a lot of demons caused by his brother.
I love this Blue Devil World so much.

Rereading this book with the audiobook was so good from start to finish! I loved it even more the second time around! Aiden Snow and Lilly Drake were the perfect narrators for this dual POV story, and they brought the characters of Kane and Daisy to life beautifully. I felt every emotion, loved all the banter, and could feel the chemistry between them.
Daisy is such an incredible main character. It was fantastic to see a chronic illness represented, and her strength, resilience, and perseverance are truly inspiring. As for Kane, I'm a sucker for a possessive hero, and the way he cares for Daisy just completely melted my heart.
Getting to dive back into the Chicago Blue Devils world was a blast. The team's tight knit, ride or die bond is one of my favorite parts of this series. If you're looking for a book that's even better on audio, I highly recommend picking this one up.
Thank you to S.J Sylvis and her team for an ALC of this audiobook. I voluntarily listened to it and gave an honest review.
