Another great book in the Chicago Devils series! This is book #3 and I loved it.
Daisy is Kane's best friend's little sister. They share a past together. But, things happened and they grew apart. He's never forgotten Daisy.
Daisy moves to Chicago to live with her brother, in the same building as Kane, and she has a secret. She's been diagnosed with lupus and is learning to manage her symptoms. I loved how protective and caring Kane was with Daisy.
This book has strong hate to love you vibes. Loved the strip hockey game.

You will enjoy this book if:
- Hockey Romance
- Brother's Best Friend
- Second Chance-ish
- Enemies to Lovers
- Hate to Love
- Neighbors to Lovers
- Workplace Romance
- Close Proximity
- Secret Relationship
- Chronic Illness Rep
Love that he calls her Daisy Petal ๐ผ ๐
I am ready for Malakis book next!

Honestly loved Daisys character and how her auto immune disease was represented, it was very relatable and loved seeing it in a strong fmc.

Kane & Daisy were really immature. Them constantly trying to make each other jealous got old fast. Overall it was ok but I wish we got more of them as an actual couple.

So, I just finished Rush the Edge, and let me tell you - Kane's story was a whirlwind I didn't see coming. After the emotional rollercoaster of the last two books, I was curious about how S.J. Sylvis would handle the notorious playboy of the Blue Devils. Spoiler alert: she nailed it!
Kane is the kind of character you expect to be all charm and no depth. But as the layers peeled back, I found myself genuinely rooting for him. His journey from the team's heartthrob to someone grappling with vulnerability was both surprising and satisfying.
The chemistry? Off the charts. The banter? Sharp and witty. And the emotional beats hit just right. There were moments I laughed out loud, moments I needed a fan (if you know what I mean ๐), and moments I had to pause and just feel.
Why not a full 5 stars? There were a few pacing issues in the middle, and I wished for a tad more exploration of certain subplots. But honestly, those are minor quibbles in an otherwise stellar read.
If you're into sports romances with depth, humor, and a touch of steam, "Rush the Edge" is a must-read. S.J. Sylvis continues to impress, and I can't wait to see where she takes us next.
Thank you, S.J. Sylvis and Valentine PR for the arc.

This one follows a FMC living with Lupus, and it really opens your eyes to what life with an autoimmune disease can be like. Super informative without feeling too heavy.
The story itself? ๐งโ๐ณ๐ Itโs a second chance, enemies to lovers, brotherโs best friend kind of romance โ with allllll the spice and alllll the feels. ๐ฎโ๐จ
These two went from high school friends with big feelings to full blown tension years later, and I was hooked the whole ride.
Total rollercoaster, but sooo worth it.

MMC Kane is best friends to River and FMC Daisy is Riverโs sister. River asks Kane to help find Daisy a job. She gets a job as the Blue Devilโs hockey teamโs mascot. The tension and banter is top notch. Daisy and Kane have sizzling chemistry. This is a slow burn, but the payoff is so worth it! Kane is a softy when it comes to Daisy. Daisy has lupus and once she tells Kane whatโs going on with her, he dives into research and is a great caregiver.
Tropes:
*Hockey romance
*Hockey player X mascot
*Second chance
*Brotherโs best friend
*Enemies to lovers
*Neighbors/close proximity
*Obsessed/possessive MMC
*Slow burn
*Banter
*Found family
