Not very good. Will not be reading the rest of this particular series.

I enjoyed the book. It was entertaining. The characters were fun. The storyline was interesting. The romance was minimal but intriguing. The flow was ok a few parts felt slow for me. A who done it that keeps you guessing.

I really enjoyed meeting Aurora Teagarden in this first of the series. Reminds me of the Lily Bard books. Did not see the resolution to the mystery either. Looking forward to reading the next installment.

real murders by charlaine harris, is the first book of the aurora teagarden murder mystery series. i love female lead murder mystery series, and still i hated this book. it’s plot and characters are so mediocre that anyone could’ve written this book. so #pleasedontreadit

I adore the Sookie books, and was strangely interested in the Harper books (in spite of the weird interpersonal relationships that happened later on), but I'm finding that all Charlaine's characters are the same. Especially Sookie and Aurora. Single southern girls who value good manners, a clean house, simple living, etc etc. I'll finish this book, it's just fine for the genre, but I don't see myself picking up any more in this series.

I have read a few different series from Charlaine Harris so figured I should try this out. This was a fun mystery to watch being solved and see all the different twists that had me guessing who it could be. On top of that there were some really interesting side characters that left me wanting to know more about them. I will definitely continue on with this series and see what it brings.

The first book in the Aurora Teagarden mysteries, the book starts off fairly well. I like Aurora as a character, and I enjoy Charlaine Harris's matter-of-fact writing style. However, I started to see strong similarities between this book and Harris's Sookie Stackhouse books. In both series, the main character lines up multiple love interests (who of course, all think she's wonderful) and then ends up somewhat involved with both/all of them. Aurora never tells the two men in this book that she is seeing the other one; it's not that big an issue since she's only had a half-date with one, and a postponed date with the other, but she's kissed both of them and if it's anything like the Sookie Stackhouse books, Aurora won't feel the need to pin herself down to one or the other anytime soon.

Really, this is all fine. Women are certainly free to date multiple guys at once if they want; I just wish the girls in these series would be a bit more up front about it with the guys involved.

Of course, maybe that only annoys me.

Anyway, the mystery itself was interesting and the end surprised me. I might pick up another in this series in the future, but it won't be at the top of my to-read pile.
