Real Murders

I enjoyed this mystery featuring a librarian trying to discover who was copying well-known murders from the past. I look forward to reading the next book in the series, A Bone to Pick.

3.5. A little gruesome for what I'd deem a cozy, but I enjoyed it!

I just couldn’t get into the book for some reason. The final chapters were what boosted the rating.

Not great. The mystery was decent but I found Roe annoying and the love triangle pointless. Plus the representation was… not good.

I loved this series! I loved that the FMC is a relatable quiet book lover that gets thrown into the thick of the drama!

She's got an inquisitive bookish mind that can't help but explore the drama and intrigue that's going on because it is like whay she reads in books. I feel like we can all relate to that.

I love the murder mystery itself. I liked the romantic interests. It kept me guessing and had the perfect mix of everything.

It's not as dark as some of the same genre I have read but it was a really fun read!

I quite enjoyed this easy read concerning Aurora Teagarden and her community.

I thought the story was interesting and I liked the characters. I did not suspect the culprit on this occasion which made a nice change for me.

I will definitely read the next in the series.

It's hard to believe that this is the same author who wrote the latest Teagarden mystery (Sleep Like a Baby). This first in the series had more focus, depth, and interest. The pace was considerably more even with chapters that moved the story forward and held less fluff and tangents.

The one thing that really drove me crazy and would instantly take me out of the story was how Ms. Harris would continue to reintroduce the characters. Unless there were multiple characters with the same first name (which wasn't the case in the book), I found it odd that we, the reader, would continually be given the characters first name after their initial introduction. John Queensland, Sally Allison, and Jack Burns....throughout the novel we kept getting their full names. Why?? We know who they are, what was the purpose?

This isn't the best cozy I've read but it's definitely above the last Teagarden mystery. Maybe I'm jaded as I love the Hallmark series. The changes Hallmark made makes these movies a guilty pleasure to watch. I think I'll stick with Hallmark from now on.

The mystery was clever. Harris has proven she is a skilled writer. There are lots of interesting characters of all personality types.....exactly what you'd find in a cozy mystery. This is the first in the series so there is plenty of potential to expand on the characters and have them grow.

The narrator for the audiobook was excellent. Her pacing, intonation was perfect for Aurora Teagarden.

Some big changes from the tv show but still enjoyable
