I actually quite enjoyed this book. I don't know if it was the contrast to her terrible early book that I just read, or if it was actually more interesting. Lol. While still not as good as the Sookie books, I enjoyed Roe and her story. This book has an old-fashioned feel to it, probably a result of the old publication date (early 90s) and Harris's conservative, southern, Christian values. I would read more of this series.
Not my favorite work of Charlaine’s but it was still a good read. The characters were well written along with an interesting plot to follow.
Hmm...I'm not sure about this one. Maybe it's the southern belle thing?
Thanks Erin! I wouldn't of read it otherwise!!! Am going to finish the series
All I can muster is ho hum. The main character and plot was very cookie cutter; boring librarian who likes to study real life murders, finds herself in the middle of real life murders. I'll stick to the Shookie books.

This re-read was fun. A nice, light start to the year. As always with Charlaine Harris, I enjoy her writing style, her characters and the small-town setting. The first person narration is always great for audio and the audiobook narrator was really good. The start was tricky to listen to as so many characters were introduced, but the mystery was engaging and the last half of the book was pacey and disturbing at times. Looking forward to book 2.

This is pretty good but I doubt I will read any more.
3 and 1/2 stars
I liked this, which had much more of a cozy mystery feel than most of Harris' other series. I loved the idea of the group Ro belongs to- I would definitely be a card carrying member, and there were lots of red herrings and interesting characters to keep me invested.
Not sure I love the triangle being set up, but I will definitely be moving on to book 2!
