Ok, this one got an extra star because of the random Giraffe. I read this book in two parts because I had to read book club book in between so I may not remember as much about the first part but this was a pretty solid Stephanie Plum book. There were some standout things about it, Kevin the Giraffe being one of them. I also like that Stephanie sort of quit being a bounty hunter and by the end of her first day working for a butcher she burned down his apartment. I think this is the real reason Stephanie hasn't quit being a bounty hunter. She couldn't keep a job doing anything else. Nothing else would let her burn down houses and blow up cars and not be fired.
Janet Evanovich did a nice job of setting this book up as well. I liked how it was casually discussed early on that big blue probably had one of Ranger's trackers in it and that becomes important later, and boy did I feel dumb for not guessing that tidy ending. The ending was...I don't know. It explained everything at least. But the ending has never been the point. It's always about what happened up to that point.
Lula is fun in this one, she actually does some ho-ing which was surprising. She also was very endearing in her love for the mysterious wandering Giraffe that she left out heads of lettuce for. Ranger was in this one but in a fun way. I like that he was just as obsessed about the Giraffe, and it seems 'Babe.' can mean just about anything. But it super annoyed me that everyone acted like Stephanie was a gigantic bitch for hunting down Sonny even tho he is a murdering mob boss, it super annoyed me that Morelli's family was protecting him, and that Grandma Mazur wanted to have sex with him.
Also, Berger the butcher was a surprisingly interesting character. I thought it was interesting how he had developed a thing for peach schnapps working in the meat coolers and needing to stay warm, and his strange obsession with meat, and the weird contents of his fridge and freezer, and his weird criminal hobby. Strangely developed character for a Stephanie Plum novel.
Anyway, I really enjoy coming back to Stephanie's world after some time away, and I can understand the wide appeal of this series.

Predictable, but with guaranteed laughs. Just what is needed for a distracted listening experience.

fast-paced
There was some funny moments in this book. However I wish Janet would make a final decision for Stephanie Plum.
I love these books they always give me a good laugh.
Still torn on the love life. One day a bounty hunter, the next day not then back again. Always lands in sticky situations that requires Stephanie to be rescued.
what more can you ask for.

Funnier than the last few. I'm not sure if I'll continue with the series because it seems like it's never going to end and nothing new really happens.
I listened to this one on audible and if you have never done so, you should. The same woman narrates all the Stephanie Plum novels and she does voices for every character. She does a fantastic job bringing the characters to life. The voices are hilarious and just make the story so much better.
My kids even enjoy listening to these stories and are our favorite to start for road trips or driving to soccer games.
The shenanigans Stephanie and LuLa get up to while tracking down FTA’s is just classic. Grandma always adds color and makes going to funerals and viewings seem like a lot of fun. Entertaining and fun, lighthearted and enjoyable to read or listen too.
