Dear Janet Evanovich,
The book was funny, I will give you that. But it was the same jokes as the previous 19 books. Lula is fat. Grandma is nuts. Stephanie is an indecisive klutz. Got it.
I myself am a Ranger fan, but either way the love triangle/sexual tension thing you've got going on is losing it's lustre. There can only be "tension" for so long before it just disappears. Like in a good horror movie, the monsters in the dark (or cats under the bed) have to pop out every once in a while, otherwise it becomes tedious and monotonous. This love triangle is tedious and monotonous.
Please either change up the formula a little bit, or end the series.
Signed,
A bored reader

These books are so entertaining that they make me laugh out loud. Lula and Stephanie make me want to run to cluck in a bucket and get some lunch. Hilarious as always.
Not one of the better Stephanie Plum flicks. Come on Evanovich--the plot must move forward.
At this point I feel like if you've read one book from this series you've read them all. Someone will call Lula fat and she will be shocked. Stephanie will eat tons of junk food and remain skinny. Stephanie despite describing herself as totally average will continue to have the two hottest guys in town vie for her heart or at least a spot on her bed. She will bungle her way through attempts to catch the bad guy and her p.o.s. car will have something bad happen to it. And she's broke. That's everything and nothing right there.
2.5 stars, rounded up to 3
Those of us who have continued reading this series know what we're going to find. I don't read this series with high expectations, I read it because I have literally laughed until I had a stomach ache and cried with many of the books. That hasn't happened in at least the last few books, but I keep reading with the hope that Evanovich will somehow capture a bit of the old fun. Well, it doesn't happen in the twentieth installment. The book had no new characters, no new or interesting plot devices, a mystery that wasn't mysterious and Stephanie didn't make a choice. Things that could have been funny fell painfully flat. The only thing that was slightly amusing was Kevin the giraffe.

While I love the characters, I am definitely ready for this series to be over. Stephanie, just choose someone.
3 stars for the Lula effect. She is the reason I keep reading. Otherwise I think I would've stopped the series long time ago. Pick a guy already. Get used to guns by now since everyone tries to kill you and for the sake of everyone get a grip on grandma Mazur.

It’s the twentieth Stephanie Plum novel and not much more needs to be said. (If this doesn’t mean anything to you, I’d recommend starting with One For the Money.) Nothing new and exciting at this point, but a fun distraction from the stresses of real life, and it’s always fun to hang out with Stephanie, Lula, Ranger, and Morelli.
