This book, like the whole series, was as hilarious as ever, and I adored every moment of it, especially the ending.
This was a refreshing read from Evanovich. Her last few Stephanie Plum books have kind of been same old, same old but I really enjoyed this one. It possibly could be because of the giraffe but either way, I thought it was funnier than the last few.
Not bad. Getting a little crazy but if you like the series you will like this one.
Don't judge... At the beach, so mindless books are ok.... And this one is. #20 is pretty much like 1-19 in that the plot is tissue thin, cars are destroyed, Stephanie does stupid stuff, Lula wears tight clothing, Ranger and Joe both want sex, Steph is torn, and Grandma is old. Oh yeah, there is also a giraffe. Seriously, Janet, your readers could write the next one without even trying. I really mean it this time; I am swearing off these for good.... Until possibly next summer :)
Another good one from Evanovich. I laughed and giggled all through it and was sad to see it end. Maybe I'm out of my 'reading slump'. :)
I had a revelation-cum-metaphor moment when finishing this book (on a long car trip, where there was nothing else to read). In the book, Stephanie goes out for onion rings and beer with Ranger (this is in no way a spoiler, BTW).
And I started thinking about why I continue to read these books. Lots of commenters appear to be in the same position I'm in-- we know that each volume will be a same-old/same-old re-hash of the previous dozen books. Stupid criminals. Out-of-control Grandma Mazur. Lula flirting with her previous life. Ranger vs. Joe. And flat-out unbelievable scrapes and near-death experiences. Let me repeat: in no way is this a spoiler, for any Evanovich book.
The books, however, are like onion rings. They're tempting. The first few bites are crunchy and hot--and the familiar savory taste of onion and grease is delicious. By the end of the second onion ring, your mind is telling you--eh, slow down. Your onion ring fix is scratched, and you know you'll hate yourself tomorrow when you have trouble zipping up your pants. Not to mention the digestive after-effects bubbling up. But there they are, sitting at the table. You wouldn't want to waste the $7.99. Ergo...
It's also fascinating to see how long Evanovich can get away with this, recycling the same characters, the same life, the same idiocies. People are obviously still buying the books. Once she writes the more-satisfying-than-onion-rings "how it ends" volume, it's over. Evanovich has been co-writing books and dabbling in alternative characters, but none seems to capture the public's imagination like Stephanie.
Here's my best guess: we'll see a few more numbers (maybe--up to 25) and then she'll write the ending. Which will involve Stephanie settling down, with the only man that makes sense. To me, anyway.

Cute, typical Stephanie Plum, but I enjoyed it…. probably time to wind down the series, this seemed like it *might* be headed that way. I will miss Stephanie, but it might be time.
Another funny addition to the Stephanie Plum series. Not giving any spoilers but it has a giraffe!
I'm officially done with this series. They aren't funny or even clever. The back and forth btwn Morelli and Ranger is old and gross. The random animal (a giraffe) this time is barely funny. So until I see reviews were people are like "OMG!!!!!!! something changed!" I'm done with this series. What a shame. =(
I don't think this one was as good as the others. IDK. When it ended, it was very abrupt too, which I found odd. Also there wasn't nearly enough Ranger. Steph is doubting Morelli, c'mon, take a stab at Ranger already.
