these books are what you expect of them. brain fluff but I wish she would smarten them up just a bit. after twenty books you dont need to introduce your characters anymore.

I think I am about done with the Stephanie Plum series. While reading Takedown Twenty I kept thinking did I read this one already? No? Am I sure? Then check the publication date. Yeah pretty sure since it came out after I last read one so...it was just the same thing. I was gifted the first three books in this series and devoured them. I loved how fun they were and they were just good reads. Really I read the first 19 in a row, back to back, and by 19 I was getting a little tired of the same old same old. Nothing really changes except who Stephanie is trying to catch. Ugh. But I keep reading them because I remember how much I enjoyed those first books.

So I was hoping that Stephanie at some point would grow and learn something from all of her mistakes. Apparently not. She is getting older, but she is exactly the same as the first book. She still doesn't know what she is doing so...she really should do something else. Also the Ranger/Morelli situation really annoyed me in this one. She is with Morelli, wants to be with Morelli, but yet lets Ranger kiss her and almost gives in to more with Ranger? Okay. Really it seemed like she wants to be with Ranger, but Ranger doesn't want to settle down so she is with Morelli instead. I mean Ranger is so attractive she can barely contain herself when he is around. I just wish she could definitively choose one of them. The whole back and forth with both of them is just boring by this point, unless they are both on board for an open relationship or something which I don't think Morelli is.

Then there is Lulu and Grandma who are doing the same things they did in every other book. Lulu eats a lot, grandma wants to get some, they are just...by this point it is just like yes I have read this before. Even though technically I have not read this specific book, I have. In every scene I was like oh is this where x happens? No they are doing slightly different y now, but it is similar enough to x they could have just done that again. It was way too much like the other books that by this point I am bored with the story. I want something new. I want Stephanie to change. I want her to choose. I want her to learn something. I want her to be smarter. I want a different book than one I have already read. I saw there is yet another book coming out in this series. Unless it is the last book I won't be reading it. I am curious how the whole thing will end, curious enough to read the last book, but until then I will just read something else. Something new. Something I haven't already read a million times before.

I know some hate them, but this calls for GIFs

Why do I keep doing this to myself?! Why do I read these books?! They never ever change.

Do you want to know what the book is about?

Ranger says Babe a LOT of times, and nothing else. And saves her sorry ass.

Steph almost dies a LOT of times. And she is TSTL

Morelli is all over her, why I do not know as she is a cheater.

She does not choose a man.

Lola is being Lola and saying stuff like Ho. Grandma is being spunky and grandma. Step's mum irons and her dad says nothing.

There is a giraffe.

Cars get totaled and I lost count of how many she borrows.

Steph fails and fails with getting her skips.

The End.

I was craving something predictable, and Stephanie Plum is nothing if not predictable. But I forgot just how much I detest the love triangle. Loving Morelli but making out with Ranger is gross IMO.

This book is laugh out loud funny. Stephanie Plum is a bail bonds woman with a sex obsessed grandmother, a former 'ho friend/assistant, 2 hot boyfriends and long suffering parents.
Among other incidents, her grandmother gets in a bingo fight and does a pole dance for a suitor

Honestly, the storyline is getting tired. Stephanie gets in a jam, Ranger pulls a Batman and saves the day, she wants him/can't have him, Lula is a bit batty, throw in Morelli and crazy Grandma Bella...and call it a day.
I'm ready to see some progress and character growth!!

The storyline for this one deserves 5. But Lorelei King cost her a star in the audiobook version by pronouncing Schnapps with the snap A sound, not correctly as mop. Just a vent, but it really hurt my ears, sorry.

She makes me laugh! That's why I read. Not a bad installment to the series tho.

I really wanted to like this book more. I loved this series when it first began, but I now feel as if these novels have become 'cookie cutter' in the sense that each resembles the others so much. The books are still a fun, quick, and at times funny read--but it's getting harder and harder to keep laughing at the same old jokes. Janet found the perfect formula in the first book, but it seems as though she is afraid to stray from that. I have become attached to the characters in a way, but I hope that Evanovich goes a little out of her comfort zone next time.

This used to be such a good book series. sigh
