Another fun adventure with Stephanie Plum! I couldn't stop laughing while I read it. Recommended for fans of the series. (Not a children's book.)

Each and every one of these books is exactly the same. The formula doesn't vary in the least. But I still love reading them. They're extremely quick, so they make for a fun few hours.

Not nearly as good as the others - this felt like it was slapped together. Also, I'm getting kind of tired of the Morelli vs Ranger story. Pick one and move on.

Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter, but not a very good one. She is awkward, desperate, and broke.

Her sidekick is a chubby former prostitute who likes chicken wings and spandex.

Her outspoken and widowed grandma is very “hip”, carries a gun, and likes to hang out at funeral homes and beauty parlors.

Stephanie has a creepy and crooked cousin who is also her boss.

She has a pet hamster and two hot and dangerous men competing for her attention.

Together they find themselves in some comical and treacherous situations…think explosions and guns - but like in a cartoon where it’s more funny than dangerous.

There are 29 total books (plus an additional four holiday bonus books) in this series. I started with number one back in 2008 and I highly suggest reading them in order (google it).

These books are light easy reads and really fun. The characters make me laugh. I will admit that the storylines have become somewhat repetitive at this point, but I will eventually finish the series out because I still enjoy them. This is number 20, so only 9 more to go.

Note: The first book was also made into a movie so you should check that out too. The movie wasn’t as good as the book, but it never is!

I've been reading these books right from the start of the series - almost 20 years! I used to love them and they were laugh out loud funny for a long time.
Now each one is just written to a formula, Stephanie is a klutzy bounty hunter, she and Lula eat junk food throughout the whole book, there's a bad guy who tries to kill her and either Morelli or Ranger saves her at the last minute...oh and at least one car gets destroyed.
Nothing in the characters lives moves along, in this one she at hints at making a decision, but then it's dropped faster than a hot potato.

I don't even know why I keep reading these every year, it's like an old favourite TV that you know has 'jumped the shark', but for some strange reason you feel compelled to see it out to the bitter end.

I really like this series, but you'd think after twenty books Stephanie would have chosen between Ranger and Morelli by now. Sigh.

Just after I retrieved this book from the library and worked my way through the first couple chapters, I read the review I wrote for the previous title in this series, number nineteen. At that point I said i said i was done with Stephanie Plum, since that book was a crappy rehash of every other one of these novels. I don't know if it's the head space I'm in or what, but this one seemed marginally better. It was still a series of mishaps, Stephanie getting into scrapes and being rescued by one or more of the men who inexplicably want to kiss her every time they see her, then Stephanie swearing she's going to quit being a bounty hunter, then making a bad decision, usually with former hooker cum sidekick Lula in tow, who gets distracted and lets Stephanie face the consequences alone. Yes, that was a run-on sentence, but I think it's fitting, since this is like the run-on sentence of fiction series. Right now I count 7 unread books on my nightstand, and 20 is a nice round number, so I think I really will leave off reading these now. Or maybe I'll pull a Plum and change my mind when the next insipid installment comes around.

I had felt the series had picked up again with 18 and 19. There were some moments that I did laugh and enjoy, overall some of it was a bit disappointing. If Uncle Sunny could pay off a judge why not pay off Vinny's bond on him? Kevin the Giraffe was a bit over the top too. I've enjoyed the series, but this one didn't quite have the spark.
