I knew for a fact that I wanted to read Sapiens, but I kept it for later as i was skeptical about it not being fluid. Sapiens : A graphic history Volume I takes us through the birth of humankind- Evolution, with characters like Detective Lopez, Doctor fiction, Zoe, Professor Saraswati and many more. It's like a story where Dr Yuval with the help other experts is trying to explain the history of us sapiens to Zoe.
The book talks about various aspects other than the history like how our ancient ancestors managed their mental health, what was their diet, how did they engage in the act of sex, how their religious beliefs could be way different from any of the religions today.
I would recommend this to any history buff or someone who is wanting to read the Sapiens but finds it big or is skeptical about it's language. I would rate this a 4/5.

Nice. I found it weird how the main guys face was completely white, but apart from that, the graphics and colours were really beautiful. Very interesting to think about out ancestors and only vered slightly into "this is what makes humans unique in the animal kingdom" territory.
I felt weird about the presentation of Australia's first people. I'm less well versed in the indigenous people of the Americas, but I know that the cultures of 60-80 thousand years ago in Australia are the same cultures that are alive today (despite ongoing cultural genocide). I think it's really important that people realise that these are actual people alive today. Some of the tone in the last section of the book didn't allow for the complexity of the issues, like how Aboriginal people in Australia have been historically extremely knowledgable about land management. There feels to me like a side of the story missing. But a pleasant read. i wonder how many more volumes there will be?

I think I would actually vibe more with this book if it weren’t a graphic novel but I’m still learning a lot so it’s worth it. Giving this a rating is weird bc,,, I can’t argue with the facts.
After finished this book, i got similar feeling when i was finished a half of Sapiens full book: Guilty and confused. Guilty, because i just realize how we, as Sapiens, changed the whole environment only to make our species life comfortable and ignoring most of others creatures life. Confused, because simply i don't know how to pay our debt to the earth.
But regarding of those feelings, this graphic book is visualize the idea of the book perfectly. Even the creator put some jokes to entertain the reader. In addition, for me, the most important part of any kind of "comic" or "graphic book" is how the creator deliver the ideas through the connecting story and this book did it perfectly.
Even though, for those who expecting extremely easy to understand the whole ideas of Sapiens, i think it still need effort to pay attention to understand the ideas. Because the dialog is longer than i expected, even the language is easier to understand. But still, this graphic version is worth to read. Cant wait for the next part!

The history of humankind made easily digestible for all ages! The storytelling is one of a kind. It's literally just having a really cool and smart uncle tell you about history, but like in a fun way!

A superb adaptation.
Personally, I am more comfortable with traditional print media than graphic novels, but this was still deeply engaging and entertaining.
Highly readable, lightly sprinkled with humour and full of apt and nuanced cultural references to ease understanding of complex concepts.
Definitely interested to read the rest, when published, and considering a copy for the classroom, too.

Suosittelen!
