I enjoyed the story and the world of this book more than the actual romance - when one of the leads didn't have her memory for most of the story and didn't even fully know what her personality was supposed to be, the romance did not really work for me. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series though, because I really liked the full cast of secondary characters and I'm happy to be seeing more of them.

Oooof had it not been for the stellar narrator, I would’ve DNFed this. Amnesia trope + second chance romance does not work for me. The information imbalance really bothered me?

I still want to read more of Rebekah Weatherspoon though!

I love a naughty cowboy… this did not disappoint.

Evie is a successful TV chef personality. A former coworker who is jealous gives her a shove down a flight of stairs at a holiday party. Evie winds up with a head injury that results in memory loss! She has no family, so her agent calls her emergency contact. Evie’s emergency contact is Zach’s brother, Jesse. Evie grew up with their family and had a crush on Zach for most of her life. When she finally confessed her feelings, Zach turned her down and mishandled the entire situation. When Evie comes to the family ranch to convalesce, Zach realizes this could be his second chance to get things right with Evie.

I am not a big western romance girl. I’m trying to be a better reader, so I picked this one up! Many people might overlook this book for that very reason, but you shouldn’t! There were many things I liked about this book. I liked that Zach and Evie’s relationship had a “this is fate” feeling. I also loved her friend’s and all of the people who were looking out for her. It’s great how Zach’s family was very protective of Evie, because of how much Zach hurt Evie in the past. Just because she can’t remember her feelings, doesn’t mean it’s okay for him to pursue her! I had a huge problem with Zach for this very reason! Zach apologizes to her, but of course she accepts his apology – she can’t remember how she should feel! Zach does have to grovel at some point, but he really should have been required to drop to his knees and beg.

Overall, I liked this book, but I wasn’t entirely on board with the amnesia storyline and how it was written. Honestly, I ended up feeling like Evie could do better than Zach. He has a lot to learn and asks for advice at the end of the book, but I wish his growth would have happened throughout the book! THEN I could have rooted for him.

I was thrilled to find an amnesia book that is not from the ‘80’s and is not Dallas level drama.
However, the pacing was just not steady. Some parts drug and some parts were rushed.
I am interested in the brothers story.

4 stars. This gave me the vibes of a Harlequin Desire novel which I loved because I love my Harlequins. I’m very iffy on amnesia plot lines and a lot of the time they don’t work for me but I really liked the way Weatherspoon handled it here.

Evie suffers a head injury and links up with her ex whom she barely remembers. They didn’t end things on good terms and I absolutely loved that Zach was upfront from the very beginning about their past with Evie instead of lying by omission. Their past does still cause a bit of chaos in the end but they act like adults about it and talk it out which I always appreciate.

Evie is a very loving and career driven character and I really liked her. Zach is charming and has this confidence to him that I loved. Their chemistry was great and I loved the two of them together and found them very easy to root for. But aside from them I also really liked the side characters. Zach’s brothers and his grandmother were so great and warm. They all had such a wonderful bond. Also, Evie’s friends were fun and added a lot of humor.

I loved the small town feel of this book and found it to be such a cozy and fun read. I will definitely be continuing on to book two.
