Amnesia and cowboys, what more could you want?
I really enjoyed this book! I often forget how much I love small town romances until I’m reading one. This book has Hallmark movie in the the making written all over it and that is right up my street.
I loved the characters and the storyline but I definitely think we could have gotten to know them all a little better. I wanted to learn more about Evie!

I really enjoyed Evie and Zach's story. The love story was good and I found myself attached to many of the characters. I was very pleased with the ending. The flow was great. Well done.
A Cowboy to Remember by Rebekah Weatherspoon is about culinary chef Evie Buchanan who is assaulted by a chef and loses her memory in the incident. She has no family except the one she grew up with in Charming, California so she stays with the family as she recovers from her injury.
I picked this one up because I loved Weatherspoon's writing and I am always ready to have her hit me with all the good romance and familial and friendly feelings. No one writes female friendship like Rebekah Weatherspoon, FYI. It's been a good while since I finished the book but I am somewhat disappointed by it. I don't want to focus on negativity, but I didn't expect this book to leave me feeling so...unsatisfied. It's probably because I am so used to Weatherspoon's indie work that I felt, delivered more emotional scenes that suited me better.
The book delivers on my expectations of tender moments. Evie has to recuperate her cooking skills and none other than the person who first taught her is there. Ms. Leona is an excellent character who didn't just help Evie learn how to cook again but also allowed her the space to recover some bits of herself. The cast of characters surrounding Evie was great too. There is her nurse, Leona's god-daughter, and her grand-daughter. They were delightful women who surrounded Evie and kept her safe. Evie also had friends of her own such as her assistant, her publicist, and her best friend and roommate.
Moving on to the romance. Evie's return to Charming means the return to Zach, who is the only person she vaguely remembers through her dreams. This plays a big role in how Zach asks if they could have something again. I liked that Zach addressed the falling out they had, and how Evie was given so much space to evaluate her want for him and whether she needed to enter a relationship.
The thing I loved the most about the writing was the food and cooking description. It left me so hungry. The thing I didn't like was how some scenes were so full of dialogue and lacked emotion. It felt like I was a simple audience to their life rather than engaging with Evie or Zach's emotions. I don't know if it's the editing or the writing but I felt like past books of this author were so much... more engaging emotionally.
I am looking forward to the sequel and I have great hopes that no one can give Jesse, Zach's brother and my favorite character, a satisfying story like Rebekah Weatherspoon.

An amazing spin on the Cinderella tale Rebekah Weatherspoon creates a fascinating continuation of her Cowboys if California series with If the Boot Fits. Readers are drawn to Amanda— she’s lovable, fun, relatable, and most of all a genuinely good person. Sam also exhibits those qualities all wrapped in a soft yet rugged exterior.. it was refreshing to see a Hollywood actor openly and honestly pursue a woman who was plus-sized. Their banter together was often laugh out loud hilarious, heartwarming, and delightful. I loved that Ananda was no shrinking violet and despite her precarious work situation, she really held her own.
I read the first book in the series a few months ago and this book definitely built upon the world of Charming and the Pleasant men that Weatherspoon has created. I cannot wait for book 3 about Jesse (we’ve had hints of what is going to happen In both books.. Def a beauty and the beast theme for sure!)

A Cowboy to Remember is an introduction to a large black family that owns a ranch in a small California town. It also provides the reader with a look into a medical trauma that feels like it happens all the time; however, Rebekah Weatherspoon has taken the amnesia trope and changed it into something new. I enjoyed the journey of these characters, even though there is a lot of information to follow. I am looking forward to more stories and books about the secondary characters.

I remember reading the blurb when this was first announced - culinary goddess Evie Buchanan has lost her memory and Zach Pleasant, hot cowboy and former childhood crush, sees his chance to make his past wrongs right. I was like, "Oh, she wrote this one for me!" because sexy chefs and hunky cowboys are my jam, and this did not disappoint.
The way that the story unfolds between Evie and Zach is so damn beautiful. Not only does she have the support of the man who makes a recurring appearance in her dreams, but his entire family! Miss Leona is my favorite. She's no-nonsense but incredibly loving and so damn wise.
There is a side-plot of Evie not remembering what (who) caused her to fall down the stairs. I love that this didn't overshadow the romance. Evie's escape to Charming for her recovery was the perfect way to focus on her and Zach.
Melanie.... she's at the top of my "worst humans" list. Garbage human.

Spoiler
She got off way too easy for me. I'm not gonna lie, I was a little bloodthirsty on Evie's behalf and wanted to see some justice bite Melanie in the ass.
3.5 stars. I really enjoyed the romance. I definitely struggled to suspend my disbelief about Evie's amnesia though.
Another book recommend by a podcast that totally disappointed. Others seemed to enjoy this one but it wasn’t for me
