Yvonne ‘Evie’ Buchanan is a hotshot chef who’s trying to leave her past behind. When she loses all her memories after a fall, she ends up right back at the ranch she grew up on - with the childhood sweetheart she hasn’t spoken to in 10 years.

Rebekah Weatherspoon wrote a really enjoyable cast of side characters. I love the Pleasants (especially Miss Leona), Evie’s friends really seem to care about her, and even Vega The Nurse is a nice addition to the ensemble. The banter is laugh-out-loud funny and there are several explicitly queer characters, which I really appreciated.

The actual central romance felt a bit flimsy. I wish we had gotten more of Evie and Zach’s backstory and them building a new relationship where Zach makes her fall in love all over again. As it was, I didn’t really get why they were so infatuated with each other. And them jumping right into a physical relationship when she had zero memories of the reasons for their decade-long estrangement felt a bit strange. The amnesia plot could have been fleshed out more and Melanie felt like a caricature of a villain.

All in all, I enjoyed myself, but I probably won’t be rereading.

An amnesia romance!

Evie is a TV chef, bad ass lady in her career. She has no direct family left, but close friends that love her. After an enemy chef pushes her down a flight of stairs, she wakes up with amnesia. Her assistant calls her 1 emergency contact, Jessie, her childhood friend. When Jessie and his brother Zach show up, she recognizes Zach from her DREAMS and knows there must be some history.

Zach has never forgotten Evie, but they haven’t talked in 10 years. He broke her heart and she told him to leave her alone, so he did. Now that she’ll speak to him, he takes advantage of the situation to apologize, and try to take care of her now, and get closer to her.

I was happy with the resolution. When Evie finally does get her memory back she knows she’s still pissed at Zach and that he hasn’t really changed or apologized for everything that happened. There was some ‘wrapping up lose ends’ at the end that was a bit on the nose, but I didn’t mind it. I liked Evie and her friends a lot, and the grandma was a great character - (though why she never called Evie in 10 years was pretty shitty).

Look, Rebekah Weatherspoon's book do not thrive on their plots but on their characters. And this one did not really have compelling characters

Wasn’t feeling the chemistry in this  one. Would consider returning to it another time or reading something else by this author though.

I love Rebekah Weatherspoon but A Cowboy To Remember didn't really do it for me. I'll try again with the next one in the series.

Wonderful! The perfect read when the world is on fire. Escape to Charming, CA with a celebrity chef and her childhood cowboy crush, can’t wait to read more by Rebekah Weatherspoon!

4 Stars / 4 Steam Fans

A Cowboy to Remember is an introduction to a large black family that owns a ranch in a small California town. It also provides the reader with a look into a medical trauma that feels like it happens all the time; however, Rebekah Weatherspoon has taken the amnesia trope and changed it into something new. I enjoyed the journey of these characters, even though there is a lot of information to follow. I am looking forward to more stories and books about the secondary characters.

Very sweet story. I wish we could have gotten more time with Evie when she wasn't dealing with amnesia. I'm used to Weatherspoon's heroines being way more kick ass and competant, so Evie was definitely different because of her amnesia. She was still sweet, but not my favorite Weatherspoon heroine.

I adored all of the supporting characters and cannot wait to continue with this series.

This is my 3rd novel by Weatherspoon and she is becoming a favorite.
