This was my introduction to the Shadowhunters world, and though I feel Clare did an excellent job keeping me up to speed on the world, I don't feel like this was the best place to start. Be warned there are substantial spoilers to the Infernal Devices series in this book.
But about the book: I enjoyed it! Juggling such a large cast is not easy, but this book does it gracefully. I was intrigued even through a slower start. I admire the LBTBQ+ representation in the book, which was a pleasant surprise! A rare piece of historical(ish) fiction that shows people who lived outside the norms. The ending was satisfying, though left enough in the air that I will certainly be seeking out the sequel. If I'm not careful I may end up with a Shadowhunters shelf in my library

I’m just as obsessed with the shadowhunter world as I was when I started these 10 years ago. My heart is wrecked and I’m counting down the days until book 2.

Chain of Gold
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I've been so scared to pick this up because it´s following the children of the characters from my fave series... I was so scared I would be disappointed, I tried to stay away from spoilers but I already knew some of the characters from Ghosts of the Shadow Market.
As this book has been sitting on my shelves since March I felt like it was time to see what it was about. There were many last names to keep track off at the beginning, but I learned it quickly.
I felt like the first 200 pages or so was like an introduction to the characters, which I found helpful and didn't mind at all. It made the plot much more interesting.
I swear I got a heart attack every time Will Herondale´s name was just mentioned as he is my number one book boo after all, though I did get used to it later on.
This book was exactly what I wanted and I think it couldn't have been better. I can't wait to read the next book, my patience is literally non-existent.

So so good! I love the characters that I got introduced to! I love that I get to follow the children of the families from the infernal devices. Also really enjoyed the romances in this book as well as the lgbtq representation. The major plot was well done that I was so invested in the story and the characters journeys. I really love seeing the characters all grow and I’m excited to see more character growth in Chain of Iron!
