Well written, emotion evoking book with a strong FMC. The themes touched upon; oppression of women, female empowerment, the paranormal and solving murders was a perfect combo for me. I deducted half a point because there was one part that was confusing followed by excruciatingly painful that will likely leave emotional scars. While that might be other people's "thang" ("A little life"-readers where you at? 😜) it isn't mine.

Tldr; would recommend

A good concept, pulled me in with the first half, but the second half was predictable and sometimes tedious. The happy ending was so exceedingly happy that it felt clumsy compared to the more solid and interesting writing in the first part of the book. The main character, Loretta, was well developed and felt very real, but perhaps the author was just a little too attached and let Loretta have absolutely everything she desired. I expected an ending more in line with the rest of the book - Loretta getting some things she wanted (and deserved), but with more of an open end, or at least one less, frankly, sappy.

I was disappointed to learn her powers are just a side plot that has nothing to do with the actual topic, which is domestic violence in the mid 20th century in USA.
