Wilson is great at making realistic characters that you can quickly come to term with, giving realistic reactions to events.
Her books are great at getting children to really think about actions and their consequences, really opening the eyes of children to the world. Some of her books are sensitive reads yet they are all great at sending life messages to children.
I feel as though Wilson books are a must in the lives of young children, a way of opening their eyes to the real world in the right way.

I was not a huge fan of this novel, perhaps because I read it at a later age, and therefore the writing style was a bit too immature for me. A nice concept for a novel, however the book was so short it didn't have enough space for character and plot development, and so I feel the novel was not executed to its potential best.

one of the few jacqueline wilson books that has held up really well with age. i re-read this recently and found myself very much enjoying it. april's story of being abandoned and shunted through care homes was revealed at just the right pace, and the ending of her finding not her mother but the man who discovered her in the bin and finding solace in that was a nice surprise.

An easy to read novel for children. I like the fact Wilson focuses on real life issues that may be affecting her audience.
