Not a bad book, but nothing new. Pop physics books are extraordinarily repetitive.
Fascinating, accessible, thought provoking read. Highly recommend.
All these books that have the same date for the summer of ‘22 are because I was locked out of Goodreads and didn’t note the day I read the books.
I can't remember from where did I come across this book recommendation as this is not one of my usual topics on my to-read list.
As someone with vague memories of secondary school physics, the level of scientific knowledge found in this book was at times too advanced for me. But the easy way that Alan Lightman wrote his essays linking to the various types of universes was enough to keep me reading on and expanding my knowledge of the universe.

Definitely enjoyed this book, there was a few inaccuracies but mostly this was thought provoking essays. I'm going to read Einstein's Dreams since everyone seems to really like that book more.

A good pop-sci book that integrates science and the humanities in discussions of the universe. Several observations changed my perspective of the world, so what more could one ask for? The writing is clear and engaging, but I never felt like I was being talked down to or the ideas being too dumbed-down. Certainly one of the best popular science books that I've read. I prefer it to [b:How We Got to Now: Six Innovations That Made the Modern World|20893477|How We Got to Now Six Innovations That Made the Modern World|Steven Johnson|https://d.gr-assets.com/books/1408311562s/20893477.jpg|40236436], which was too much like reading a tv show and, while it had more information and trivia, did not have the cohesive development of ideas that is evident in Lightman's writing. If you're looking for a quick science read, I highly recommend picking this up!
