Really enjoyed this fascinating telling of the history and folklore of wolves in the Western world. Very easy to listen to, although at times jumped ahead a little. Otherwise fantastic!

I really, really enjoyed Hunt for the Shadow Wolf. It covers a lot of lesser-known wolf history and lore, and I enjoyed following the author on this voyage of discovery. Derek Gow is clearly passionate about the subject, and that comes through in a way that pulls you in. There were a few points where I felt he might have been too emotionally involved to handle all the sources totally objectively, but I can’t hold that against him. Overall, I think the picture he paints is fair.
I listened to the audiobook and have a lot of respect for the narrator, who handled some moments of tongue-twisting prose with ease. It was enough for me to forgive his mispronunciation of “Veluwe.”
