Another great Nancy Drew mystery with more kidnapping and a possible ghost! Her friend, Helen, and Helen's family kept putting a damper on Nancy's sleuthing, but otherwise a pretty good read.

In some ways this definitely felt less adventurous than the last book, like you can tell it was written in the 30s. Even though it seemed more traditional, it was still spooky.

Can't wait to share this series with my daughter when she's old enough.

This book was actually pretty good. The plot was enough to keep me in the dark, but also very interested. I made a few assumptions but I was wrong sometimes!

I had this book as a youngster (It's still at my parents)
To me Nancy Drew was the height of sophistication and bravery.

Nancy Drew did scare me when I was young, and this is just the kind of book I would like to re read as an adult.

A slightly creepy but thrilling mystery in which Nancy's firm grip on reality prevents a family of women from being gaslighted by a predatory man trying to buy up old manors. This is one of the few stories in which Nancy is not kidnapped or tied up, by the way. It's an interesting digression from the usual formula.
